Conquering Fear of Being Percieved

Be confident in creating content and showing who you are despite how others may judge you.

Content creation has so many forms now: quick TikToks, posting on Substack, writing on Medium, and of course video and streaming platforms like YouTube and Twitch. Beyond just creative content, informative work is churned out at a rapid rate as AI accelerates the rate at which people build and learn. It’s hard to keep up as a consumer and harder to keep up as a creator.

It’s intimidating creating content of any form—even a blog like this—when so many credible voices are so visible, but overcoming this fear can be easier than you might think.

Developing Confidence

Confidence to create content does not have to be centered in feeling ready to post something. Oftentimes fear of creating and being seen stems more from apprehension to negative feedback that is reinforced by seeing negative responses to things online.

The counter to negative feedback is earnest response. When you have a disagreement with a friend, it’s easy to have worthwhile discussion when you know your friend will listen. Likewise, best way to handle feedback of any kind is to be ready to listen and respond sincerely.

Showing your reasoning and motivation while acknowledging counterpoints and detraction represents a respectable security and confidence. Even if someone wants to hate, an earnest response deters any negative outcome by showing respectable qualities. Confidence comes from sincerity.
